So you're "helping people," but not for the right reasons. Well, it will not stop there. It gets worse. YOU will get worse.
"Helping people," but not for the right reasons? Alright.
Everything you touch will turn to shit,
until you straighten that out tonight,
Because those you are helping, and often others, will notice from your attitude. And then from your words and actions towards and around and concerning them. They will see how you are forcing or faking being into it, and faking often even to yourself that you are into it for the right reasons. Or for something you think is the right reason by virtue of "important people" telling you that that is how to help the "little people," even if it hurts and harms them by being coercive and also furtherly inappropriate or abusive or neglectful.
And because you aren't truly into the point of it, you act on your deviation from (or secret contempt for) the point rather than on the point of it all. You will also screw up because you're focused on things other than what you're supposed to be doing; you aren't truly into it at all.
So you end up not doing what you're supposed to do right, or at all. You end up screwing up. You end up doing bad things too, to those you are supposed to be helping. You start seeing them as hindrances to you helping them (which is impossible in its own right, because real help does not involve coercion)... or rather, as hindrances to your agenda. And you resent them for it, and want to "punish" them in some way for it to "put them back in their place" that you and your "superiors" have assigned them... and you act on all that, and you call that helping them.
You end up with even more of a nasty, dehumanizing attitude towards them. Or rather, that attitude you had to begin with just finally came to a visible head.
Toxic old ways of thinking in society are a LOT to blame for this.
Those ideas aren't toxic because they're OLD... they're toxic because they're TOXIC. I never meant that old means or is or could mean or be toxic. The best, greatest story is the oldest one.
(This is off topic, but the oldest story is the story of us all and God[s] or rather, peers of ours on the other side that are luckier than us... living happily together forever into and out of the past, while conspiring for God [or whatever your name for them is] to send us out to find connections... to find more of ourselves and each other and more of God themself, and to then have enough of that to know on ALL levels from then on what we have always never forgotten underneath inside/overall/behind it all... that we are capable of re-proving it to ourselves using logic and observation and connection... learning to remember and then remembering God, each other, and ourselves even when it all isn't right under our noses staring us straight in the face as the only proof it exists. It's the tale of seeking and finding psychological object permanence-- spirituality in the absence of a constant fix of it-- and of never losing it again and knowing we won't.)
So maybe I should say toxic, intermediate-in-history levels of thinking are what's wrong.
For even when one does supposedly help someone short term without meaning to or despite trying for something else that they think will help them instead or that one knows won't help at all, then that "help" becomes short term... firstly because the intent... and often further if it involves inhumane "end justifies the means" methods of it... negate any and all help that could have come from it if it hadn't included any dehumanization.
Never worth it for those you are professing to "help."
It's coming to a point now where it won't be worth it for you either.
One day we will live in a society where no one would dehumanize anyone even to save their own life. Until then, we're working to that point.
