This book will be posted bit by bit, in multiple posts, numbered parts. I wrote it in 2009-2010 and revised and added to it in around 2017. I hope you all enjoy it and get whatever lessons or solidarity or whatever out of it that you have been craving!
An apology in advance to whoever finds the original text of this book which is very different and where Anne-Marie is more judgmental of both herself and other people and demographics as a part of her illness and her upbringing.
Normally I would never censor or change a story. It's fiction besides, about a fictional character. But THIS story needed those minor-but-major changes, because of the message of it that I want to convey. Anne-Marie saw the error of her discriminatory ways even in the original incomplete book (which had a different title), but in this one the essential points are better put out there.
I made her more sympathetic to BEGIN with in this book. I honestly didn’t know any better than to make the main character of this particular book ignorant and I am sorry.
She seemed to have fear of some people of color, called a transwoman a man in a dress, assumed a Mexican woman was an illegal alien and seemed amused by how fat a few characters were. I don’t want my main character of THIS particular book to be like that so I changed it. I’m not censoring myself, just thought Anne-Marie should at least see the error of her ways sooner in this version. I had been told that I had to use stereotypes to make my story “realistic”. I regret it. Often, like in the case of the transgender person, I didn’t know the correct terminology.
So here it is, in the next posts...
